Dillmann, AVF on Barcelona podium, prepare for 2016 decider

The second race of the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 series at Barcelona will decide the outcome of the whole series in the final round of the season in Catalunya. AVF by Adrián Vallés and Tom Dillmann are fully in the hunt for the championship as the Frenchman stands second in points, 6 lengths away from Louis Deletraz. In the opening race, Dillmann secured third place after taking a stunning pole in qualifying, despite some overnight rain. After a timely change from wets to slicks in a great team strategy, Tom delivered a great lap to pace the whole field.

During the race, Dillmann exited the first corner in P2 and managed the position until lap 18 when he was passed by Deletraz. Alfonso Celis suffered an unlucky day as he went off in qualifying and on the opening lap of the race after being forced to start race 1 from the last spot.

    Adrian Valles – Team Principal

“It has been a good Saturday with a pole and a third place in Race 1. We set five poles this season showing how quick we are in qualifying trim. We are still missing something in the race as we know that it's always difficult to overtake, but we are in full contention for the title. We have to fight hard tomorrow and try to win in order to achieve our goal. We showed that we are definitely not lacking speed and even when Deletraz passed Tom we didn't lose ground. Finding the right set-up will be critical for race 2, but we are not far from the best. Now we have to attack hard to get the pole in qualifying 2 and the win in the race!"
